As we inch closer to winter solstice, I find a quickening in my heart knowing that the shortest day will soon be upon us, and we will once again be embraced by the light.
This time of year can be especially difficult for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. How we yearn for the long, warm days of summer, over the solitude of winter. However, I am reminded that there are gifts to be found when we embrace the dark, and that to embrace the dark is to embrace surrender. A time to slow down and let go; to practice presence over performance. Cherishing the beauty and magic in the mundane. To embrace the small in a season that can have us chasing after more, recognizing that we are enough just as we are. Surrendering to the wisdom of natures rhythms and taking time to reflect on what needs to be released within, in order to step into this next year with more intention, greater awareness, and a sense of grounded authenticity.
May you find hope in the darkness and light in the spaces between.
